YHS uses your vehicle donations in a variety of ways. Most often we sell the vehicles and use the proceeds to support our programs. Sometimes we keep and use the vehicle, in fact the YHS van was a donation! In 2011, we received a 1966 Mustang and had a raffle that raised $23,000. Current vehicle needs are a lightweight pick-up truck and an RV that could be converted into a mobile adoption or spay/neuter clinic.
It's easy to donate a vehicle to YHS. Running and non-running cars, trucks, boats, planes, and RVs can all help the animals. We'll even tow them away!
Simply call Susie Vigil, Development Director, at 928-445-2666 ext. 105 and we'll take care of the rest. For YHS to be able to take the vehicle, it MUST have an open title in the owner's name and not signed over on the back. If the title is signed, it will need to be taken to the DMV and officially transferred over to the current owner.
Once the title is in order, we will pass your information to our local partners at U-Pick-It in Prescott Valley who will call you to set up an appointment to pick up your vehicle. Usually, they can pick it up within 48 hours.
A tax deduction equal to the sale price of the vehicle is available for donors who itemize their deductions. For vehicles sold for less than $500, donors can deduct the fair market value up to $500. In each case, you will receive a tax receipt or IRS Form 1098C reflecting the sale price of the vehicle within 30 days of its sale. YHS does not give tax advice.
