YHS Employment Application

The Yavapai Humane Society (YHS) is nestled in the beautiful mile-high Bradshaw Mountains of Arizona, just 90 minutes north of Phoenix.  YHS is one of the most progressive and innovative animal welfare programs in the nation and is currently recruiting for the following positions:


Sales Associate

(Part-time Position – 25 hours per week, including shifts on M, T, Th, Fri, Sat)

We are seeking a part-time Sales Associate to work in our wonderful Thrift Store. The Thrift Store is an important part of our funding sources and each Sales Associate makes a significant difference in the success of our organization. Under the direction of the Retail Store Manager, the Sales Associate will be responsible for direct selling to customers as well as periodic pickups for donations.  This requires knowledge of managing inventory as well as the ability to work well with customers and with volunteers. Successful candidate will have at least three years prior experience in retail, including in working the register, and a great work ethic. They will also need to have sufficient computer skills to do internet research on antiques and collectibles. The Thrift Store has a wonderful team of employees and volunteers who love what they do and this is a chance to be a part of that team!

Development Specialist

(Part-time Position – 20 hours per week)

We are looking for an experienced Development Specialist to support our Development team, including in our expansion into the equine area! This position provides support for the critical areas of donor acquisition, corporate fundraising and ongoing fundraising activities. In particular, we are seeking someone with knowledge and experience in the equine community as we are launching an exciting new initiative, our first Equine Rescue. We will be focused on special fundraising to support this groundbreaking initiative so it’s a chance to be part of the growth and development of this new area. Overall, this position supports development efforts through prospect tracking as well as providing communications to the public and supporting grant-writing, as needed. Minimum 5 years of prior Development experience required and Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Offsite Adoptions Coordinator:

(Part-time Position – 10 hours per week, Fridays and Saturdays. 10:30 am – 3:30 pm)

If you are good at working with the public, have a proven background in working with animals in a positive and constructive way and want to be part of our wonderful mission, this may be the position for you! The Yavapai Humane Society is looking for the right person to take the lead in our offsite adoption program. This position requires the ability to transport and safely sponsor animals that can be seen by the public at offsite locations, such as with our partner, Petco. This role is also an “ambassador” for the Yavapai Humane Society at these events, providing information about the many great programs we offer and encouraging opportunities to adopt.  Successful candidates must be able to both work independently and with volunteers and must be very organized and able to multi-task, with a proven ability to handle animals safely and supportively.

Marketing and PR Intern

(10-20 hours/week, unpaid - college credit may apply)
The Yavapai Humane Society is seeking a Marketing Intern.  Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Community Outreach, the Marketing and PR Intern assists the Marketing Department with day-today activities. He/she will help generate a greater awareness of the Yavapai Humane Society throughout our service areas.  The intern will also assist with special projects, special events (adoptions, fundraisers, etc.) and cause marketing campaigns.
