Veterinarian Technician – Main Shelter-Clinic

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Veterinarian Technician at Yavapai Humane Society’s Main Shelter-Clinic.  Candidates with a positive, outgoing, energetic personality with strong customer service skills, computer skills, problem solving skills, written and verbal communication skills, with an interest in helping animals should apply.  Essential functions are managing multiple tasks, completing medical examinations of animals; administrating vaccination, prep for surgery and assisting during surgery, monitoring the health of shelter animals; renders animal first aid and emergency treatment as necessary, cleaning kennels, feeding, watering and general care for animals, and updating electronic records.  This position requires a lot of standing and walking, and frequent crouching or stooping, kneeling, reaching and bending. The candidate for this position must be able to lift and carry, pull or push 50-70 pounds unassisted.  High school diploma or G.E.D.; veterinarian technician certification or one year experience in this field, is required. Front Office - Customer Service

We are currently recruiting for a full-time 40 hrs/wk (including weekends) Front Office position working at the main Adoptions Shelter.  This position will be responsible for providing office support to employees and clerical support to customers; along with performing opening and closing procedures daily.  YHS is seeking individuals with strong customer service skills, interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational skills; and comprehensive computer skills with previous front office experience.

High School diploma or G.E.D equivalency is required; must have customer service or general office experience, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the clerical work.  Also, it would be preferred if previous work experience has been in the area of caring for dogs, cats, and/or other animals.  Should have a knowledge of current office practices and procedures; operation of standard office equipment, including multi-line telephone system and a personal computer and job related software applications. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively in both.  Must be able to lift/move up to 70 pounds and work in both an office and animal shelter environment.  Must be able to learn Adoptions procedures and functions thoroughly to provide general information and explain processes and procedures; perform multiple tasks in a timely manner; perform duties accurately and effectively under time sensitive deadlines and establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, other employees, other shelters and management.  If you would like to be a part of our team at Yavapai Humane Society, email your resume to

Community Outreach Coordinator (Part-time 30 hrs/wk)

We are currently recruiting for a part-time 30 hrs/wk (including weekends for special events) Community Outreach Coordinator. If you have a friendly, outgoing and energetic personality, then this may be the job for you! Previous work experience with volunteers, animals and an understanding of volunteer recruitment, training and recognition is needed. Also, must have the ability to plan, develop and coordinate community events and be a public representative for the Yavapai Humane Society. Additional duties may include fundraising and marketing tasks for the volunteer program.

A Bachelor's degree is required (professional experience may be substituted) and supervisory experience is a plus. A qualified applicant must be computer literate and have the ability to manage a database with strong people skills, very strong organizational skills and work ethic. This position does require some evenings and weekend hours for special events. Must possess or obtain an Arizona driver’s license. Enrichment Program Manager (Animal Behavior Consultant)

We are currently recruiting for an Enrichment Program Manager. This position is full-time, exempt position with the primary role of performing animal behavior evaluations to include assessing, developing and maintaining a case profile for each animal that helps ensure customer, volunteer and staff safety; training new employees and volunteers on safe animal handling; and promoting and maintaining positive public and employee relations.

High school diploma or equivalent, minimum of two years’ experience in animal welfare or animal handling (behavior evaluation experience preferred); understanding and knowledge of implementing both classical conditioning and operant conditioning, that is, both treat training and correction based training; must be able to handle animals in all conditions and be able to train co-workers and volunteers in job duties and safe animal handling; must be able to read and write English and complete paperwork accurately and legibly, with good computer skills to update electronic records promptly; must possess excellent work ethic and understanding of behavior enrichment programs; must be able to function well in a stressful environment, work collaboratively in a team environment and self-manage without direct supervision. Marketing and PR Intern

(10-20 hours/week, unpaid - college credit may apply)
The Yavapai Humane Society is seeking a Marketing Intern.  Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Development, the Marketing and PR Intern assists the Marketing Department with day-today activities. He/she will help generate a greater awareness of the Yavapai Humane Society throughout our service areas.  The intern will also assist with special projects, special events (adoptions, fundraisers, etc.) and cause marketing campaigns.
