The Yavapai Humane Society (YHS) is nestled in the beautiful mile-high Bradshaw Mountains of Arizona, just 90 minutes north of Phoenix.  YHS is one of the most progressive and innovative animal welfare programs in the nation and is currently recruiting for the following positions:

Veterinarian Technician – Main Shelter-Clinic

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Veterinarian Technician at Yavapai Humane Society’s Main Shelter-Clinic.  Candidates with a positive, outgoing, energetic personality with strong customer service skills, computer skills, problem solving skills, written and verbal communication skills, with an interest in helping animals should apply.  Essential functions are managing multiple tasks, completing medical examinations of animals; administrating vaccination, prep for surgery and assisting during surgery, monitoring the health of shelter animals; renders animal first aid and emergency treatment as necessary, cleaning kennels, feeding, watering and general care for animals, and updating electronic records.  This position requires a lot of standing and walking, and frequent crouching or stooping, kneeling, reaching and bending. The candidate for this position must be able to lift and carry, pull or push 50-70 pounds unassisted.  High school diploma or G.E.D.; veterinarian technician certification or one year experience in this field, is required. Education may be substituted with work experience.  Applicants must have the ability to handle animals humanely and safely and properly control animals that may be sick or injured. Receptionist – Spay/Neuter Clinic

We are currently recruiting for a Receptionist for the Spay/Neuter Clinic, working part-time, 16 hours per week, Thursday – Friday (4 hours per day). YHS is seeking a candidate with a positive, outgoing, energetic personality with strong customer service skills, computer skills, problem solving skills, written and verbal communication skills.  Essential functions are managing all incoming telephone calls and inquiries in an accurate, timely and courteous manner and assist callers with problems by helping them remedy issues and/or address their animal’s needs; scheduling appointment; assisting with check-in of all patients and insuring that the proper admission forms are completed; entering animal/owner data correctly and accurately into the data base system; performing reconciliation of daily reports and monies, credit and debit card activity; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with staff, volunteers, vendors, benefactors and public; assist in the ordering and tracking of inventory.  A High School diploma or G.E.D equivalency is required.  Previous work experience in a veterinary clinical setting would be a plus.  In addition, this position requires a lot of standing and walking, frequent crouching or stooping, kneeling, reaching and bending.  The candidate for this position must also be able to lift and carry, pull or push or move 50-70 pounds unassisted. Animal Care Technician – Lost & Found Division

We are currently recruiting for a for the Lost & Found division.  This position is full-time, working 40 hours per week, including weekend hours. YHS is seeking a candidate with a positive, outgoing, energetic personality with strong customer service skills, computer skills, problem solving skills, written and verbal communication skills.  Essential functions are managing multiple tasks in order to perform routine duties related to upkeep and monitoring animals in Lost & Found, including: cleaning and disinfecting kennels/cages; feeding and watering; updating electronic records on computers; and assisting with animal intakes, returns, inspecting incoming animals for parasites and bathing animals when necessary, assists public with various licensing and other services.  A High School diploma or G.E.D equivalency is required. Previous work experience caring for dogs, cats, and/or other animals, is preferred. Applicants should have previous customer service experience and good computer skills.  In addition, this position requires a lot of standing and walking, frequent crouching or stooping, kneeling, reaching and bending with frequent interruptions and a lot of repetitive motion.  The candidate for this position must also be able to lift and carry, pull or push or move 50-70 pounds unassisted.  This position handles a high volume of animals and customers and is exposed to sudden temperature changes as well as wet quarters, noise, toxic conditions, animal orders and dander as well as potentially dangerous, fast moving animals. Cat Care Specialist - Adoptions Division

We are currently recruiting for a Cat Care Specialist, working part-time (20 hrs/wk), including weekend hours. YHS is seeking a candidate with a positive, outgoing, energetic personality with strong customer service skills, computer skills, problem solving skills, written and verbal communication skills.  Essential functions are managing multiple tasks in order to perform routine duties related to upkeep of cats in the shelter, including: cleaning; feeding; watering and general care for cats; updating electronic records on the computer; and assisting customers with animal adoptions.  A High School diploma or G.E.D equivalency is required.  Previous work experience or volunteer experience caring for cats is a plus.  Applicants should have previous customer service experience and good computer skills.  In addition, this position requires a lot of standing and walking, frequent crouching or stooping, kneeling, reaching and bending.  The candidate for this position must also be able to lift and carry, pull or push or move 50-70 pounds unassisted. Internships:

Marketing and PR Intern

(10-20 hours/week, unpaid - college credit may apply)
The Yavapai Humane Society is seeking a Marketing Intern.  Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Development, the Marketing and PR Intern assists the Marketing Department with day-today activities. He/she will help generate a greater awareness of the Yavapai Humane Society throughout our service areas.  The intern will also assist with special projects, special events (adoptions, fundraisers, etc.) and cause marketing campaigns.
