We are currently recruiting for an Enrichment Program Manager. This position is full-time, exempt position with the primary role of performing animal behavior evaluations to include assessing, developing and maintaining a case profile for each animal that helps ensure customer, volunteer and staff safety; training new employees and volunteers on safe animal handling; and promoting and maintaining positive public and employee relations.
High school diploma or equivalent, minimum of two years’ experience in animal welfare or animal handling (behavior evaluation experience preferred); understanding and knowledge of implementing both classical conditioning and operant conditioning, that is, both treat training and correction based training; must be able to handle animals in all conditions and be able to train co-workers and volunteers in job duties and safe animal handling; must be able to read and write English and complete paperwork accurately and legibly, with good computer skills to update electronic records promptly; must possess excellent work ethic and understanding of behavior enrichment programs; must be able to function well in a stressful environment, work collaboratively in a team environment and self-manage without direct supervision. We are currently recruiting for a full-time Veterinarian Technician at Yavapai Humane Society’s Main Shelter Clinic. Candidates with a positive, outgoing, energetic personality with strong customer service skills, computer skills, problem solving skills, written and verbal communication skills, with an interest in helping animals should apply. Essential functions are managing multiple tasks, completing medical examinations of animals; administrating vaccination, prep for surgery and assisting during surgery, monitoring the health of shelter animals; renders animal first aid and emergency treatment as necessary, cleaning kennels, feeding, watering and general care for animals, and updating electronic records. This position requires a lot of standing and walking, and frequent crouching or stooping, kneeling, reaching and bending. The candidate for this position must be able to lift and carry, pull or push 50-70 pounds unassisted. High school diploma or G.E.D.; veterinarian technician certification or one year experience in this field, is required. Education may be substituted with work experience. Applicants must have the ability to handle animals humanely and safely and properly control animals that may be sick or injured. We are currently recruiting for a Kennel Associate for the Main Shelter – Adoptions Center. This position is full-time, working 40 hours per week, including weekend hours. YHS is seeking a candidate with a positive, outgoing, energetic personality with strong customer service skills, computer skills, problem solving skills, written and verbal communication skills. Essential functions are managing multiple tasks in order to perform routine duties related to upkeep and monitoring animals in Adoptions, including: cleaning and disinfecting kennels/cages; feeding and watering; updating electronic records on computers. A High School diploma or G.E.D equivalency is required. Previous work experience caring for dogs, cats, and/or other animals, is preferred. Applicants should have previous customer service experience and good computer skills. In addition, this position requires a lot of standing and walking, frequent crouching or stooping, kneeling, reaching and bending with frequent interruptions and a lot of repetitive motion. The candidate for this position must also be able to lift and carry, pull or push or move 50-70 pounds unassisted. This position handles a high volume of animals and customers and is exposed to sudden temperature changes as well as wet quarters, noise, toxic conditions, animal orders and dander as well as potentially dangerous, fast moving animals. The Yavapai Humane Society is seeking a Marketing Intern. Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Development, the Marketing and PR Intern assists the Marketing Department with day-today activities. He/she will help generate a greater awareness of the Yavapai Humane Society throughout our service areas. The intern will also assist with special projects, special events (adoptions, fundraisers, etc.) and cause marketing campaigns.
