The Yavapai Humane Society (YHS) is nestled in the beautiful mile-high Bradshaw Mountains of Arizona, just 90 minutes north of Phoenix.  YHS is one of the most progressive and innovative animal welfare programs in the nation and is currently recruiting for the following positions:

Veterinarian Technician – Main Shelter-Clinic

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Veterinarian Technician at Yavapai Humane Society’s Main Shelter-Clinic.  Candidates with a positive, outgoing, energetic personality with strong customer service skills, computer skills, problem solving skills, written and verbal communication skills, with an interest in helping animals should apply.  Essential functions are managing multiple tasks, completing medical examinations of animals; administrating vaccination, prep for surgery and assisting during surgery, monitoring the health of shelter animals; renders animal first aid and emergency treatment as necessary, cleaning kennels, feeding, watering and general care for animals, and updating electronic records.  This position requires a lot of standing and walking, and frequent crouching or stooping, kneeling, reaching and bending. The candidate for this position must be able to lift and carry, pull or push 50-70 pounds unassisted.  High school diploma or G.E.D.; veterinarian technician certification or one year experience in this field, is required. Veterinarian Technician – Spay/Neuter Clinic

Animal Care Technician - Lost & Found Division at Main Shelter

The Yavapai Humane Society is hiring a full-time 40 hours per week (including weekend hours), Animal Care Technician, in the Lost & Found Division. Applicants for this position should have a positive, outgoing, energetic personality with strong customer service skills, computer skills, problem solving skills, written and verbal communication skills. Essential functions are managing multiple tasks in order to perform routine duties related to upkeep and monitoring animals, including: cleaning and disinfecting kennels/cages; feeding and watering; updating electronic records on computers. A High School diploma or G.E.D equivalency is required. Previous work experience caring for dogs, cats, and/or other animals, is preferred. Applicants should have previous customer service experience and good computer skills. In addition, this position requires a lot of standing and walking, frequent crouching or stooping, kneeling, reaching and bending with frequent interruptions and a lot of repetitive motion. The candidate for this position must also be able to lift and carry, pull or push or move 50-70 pounds unassisted. This position handles a high volume of animals and customers and is exposed to sudden temperature changes as well as wet quarters, noise, toxic conditions, animal orders and dander as well as potentially dangerous, and fast moving animals.  If interested in this position, please send your resume to jobs@yavapaihumane.org.

Sales Associate for the Yavapai Humane Society Thrift Store

The Yavapai Humane Society is hiring a part-time Retail Sales Associate for the Thrift Store. If you love animals and have a background in retail this may be the job for you! This is a part-time position working 20-25 hours per week including possible weekend hours. Under the general direction of the Thrift Store Manager and/or Assistant Manager this position will be responsible for the efficient operation of the Thrift Shore providing outstanding customer service and retail activities. General responsibilities includes routine duties related to maintain the YHS Thrift Store by learning the daily register opening and closing procedures; learning to complete all monetary transactions properly; coordinate attractive and seasonally appropriate sales floor displays; assist in prioritizing, coordinating and monitoring workflow amount the volunteers and staff as applicable; enforces shop policies and procedures with volunteers; assists in merchandise pricing, instructions, and guidelines to ensure consistency and nonprofit stewardship. High School diploma or G.E.D equivalency is required. Previous retail experience in a retail environment is required, as well as retail and cash register experience. Must have the ability to work independently with strong communication, written and organizational skills; strong customer service skills; the ability to direct, guide, train and work harmoniously with staff and volunteers; strong computer skills and the ability to use and create documents using Excel and Word would be a plus. Must have an energetic, friendly, and easily approachable personality; a strong attention to detail and be knowledgeable in merchandising and retail. Must be able to lift and carry, pull or push 70 pounds unassisted. Internships:

Marketing and PR Intern

(10-20 hours/week, unpaid - college credit may apply)
The Yavapai Humane Society is seeking a Marketing Intern.  Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Development, the Marketing and PR Intern assists the Marketing Department with day-today activities. He/she will help generate a greater awareness of the Yavapai Humane Society throughout our service areas.  The intern will also assist with special projects, special events (adoptions, fundraisers, etc.) and cause marketing campaigns.
