The primary role of this position is managing the Shelter-Clinic, Spay and Neuter Wellness Clinic, Behavior Team, Foster and Rescue programs, as well as overseeing the medical intake (assessment, treatment & disposition) of all animals brought to YHS.
The ideal candidate will be a graduate of an accredited college or university by the American Veterinary Medical Association with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Medical Doctor Degree, plus five years’ experience as a veterinarian, preferably in a shelter environment. Must possess a valid DEA license. This position requires at least two years of managerial and/or supervisory experience with experience operating within a budget, along with good computer skills. Must be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Arizona and possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
The essential functions of the Chief Veterinarian position include diagnose and prescribe treatment for animals; Conduct observations of bite animals undergoing rabies quarantine to ensure compliance with State Rabies Regulations; Prevent and control disease in the shelter; Assist Animal Control in the assessment of potential cruelty and neglect cases; Responsible for the day-to-day activists of the Shelter Clinic’s and Receiving’s medical/technical staff; Responsible for monitoring the operations of the Spay and Neuter Wellness Clinic, the Medical and Behavior teams and their programs; Supervision of immediate subordinate staff members including writing performance reviews, counseling and progressive discipline; Monitor the purchase and usage of all controlled substances; Attend educational seminars and training to enhance the medical management of the animal population of YHS.

Marketing and PR Intern
(10-20 hours/week, unpaid - college credit may apply)
The Yavapai Humane Society is seeking a Marketing Intern. Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Development, the Marketing and PR Intern assists the Marketing Department with day-today activities. He/she will help generate a greater awareness of the Yavapai Humane Society throughout our service areas. The intern will also assist with special projects, special events (adoptions, fundraisers, etc.) and cause marketing campaigns.
