YHS Employment Application

The Yavapai Humane Society (YHS) is nestled in the beautiful mile-high Bradshaw Mountains of Arizona, just 90 minutes north of Phoenix.  YHS is one of the most progressive and innovative animal welfare programs in the nation and is currently recruiting for the following positions:

Human Resources Manager - Part-Time, 20-25 hrs/week (posting date 10-5-2015)

Duties:  Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the day to day activities of the YHS Human Resources department, including: recruitment and staffing; performance management; employee compensation; policy development, documentation and administration; employee relations; legal compliance and personnel records administration.  Coordinates with finance department personnel on benefits administration and oversees 10 hrs/week of bookkeeper’s time in HR support activities.  Requires:   A bachelor’s degree and five years’ human resource experience, or nine years’ experience in the HR field, preferably with some experience in an animal welfare organization or other non-profit; HR Certification preferred.  Knowledge of various employment laws and practices and experience working with an employment law attorney; evidence of the ability to coach organization managers and supervisors while modeling a high level of confidentiality; prepare and maintain required records and reports; work independently and manage multiple tasks; establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with other YHS employees and the public. 

Animal Care Technician – Lost & Found (posting date 10-1-2015)

Full-time, 40 hrs/week. 10 hrs/day (7:00 am – 6:00 pm), Sun, Mon, Tues, Thurs
Duties:  Under the general direction of Supervisor, Lost & Found, the successful incumbent will assist with animal intake and disposition; monitor, feed and water animals; monitor, clean and disinfect kennels and cages; assists public with the adoption of animals.  Requires:   High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate; ability to:  lift and handle animals, and clean facilities;  lift/move up to 50 pounds and work in both an office and animal shelter environment;  comprehend written work instructions and complete required paperwork; establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with other YHS employees and the public. Previous work experience caring for dogs, cats, and/or other animals preferred.


Marketing and PR Intern

(10-20 hours/week, unpaid - college credit may apply)
The Yavapai Humane Society is seeking a Marketing Intern.  Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Community Outreach, the Marketing and PR Intern assists the Marketing Department with day-today activities. He/she will help generate a greater awareness of the Yavapai Humane Society throughout our service areas.  The intern will also assist with special projects, special events (adoptions, fundraisers, etc.) and cause marketing campaigns.
